1. Why become a Cosmo Polite Member?
Cosmo Polite Members are invited to a variety of gatherings throughout the week. Moreover, you will enjoy meeting and befriending other international people in Amsterdam. Especially when you are new in town or have little time to relax, you will find a Cosmo Polite membership ideal. back to top
2. What are the Cosmo Polite Membership advantages?
- Invitation to social, sportive and cultural gatherings.
- Opportunity to ‘give back to society’ by participating in the community-work days.
- Opportunity to socialize and exchange information with other parents (to be).
- Preferred guest status at selected companies.

3. How much does a Cosmo Polite Membership cost?
A Cosmo Polite Membership is E15 per month (min. period 3 months). back to top
4. Can everyone become a Cosmo Polite Member?
Cosmo Polite is a club of like-minded, cosmopolitan individuals. It is an unspoken rule to behave and dress like gentlemen and ladies. Individuals who do not fit this profile will not be invited for membership. back to top
5. Is this a singles club?
No, Cosmo Polite welcomes both singles and couples. The club is all about meeting like-minded people in a pleasant setting. back to top
6. Is this a business club?
Though most of us are international professionals, we gather to socialize with new and old friends. Fact remains, people do business with people who they trust and like. Our gatherings are characterized by an open and social ambiance, a great setting to connect with all attendees. back to top
7. I have not paid the membership fee, but do receive your invitations. How is that?
You receive our monthly newsletter and the invitations to the Thursday drinks, which are open to non-members. You are welcome to attend a members-only event as a guest. After attending one event, if you wish to attend more, we require you to become a member. back to top
8. How can I terminate my Cosmo Polite Membership?

10. Can I bring guests to Cosmo Polite events?
Yes, please do! The Thursday drinks always welcomes non-members. Also, we invite your colleagues and friends to meet us personally and attend a members-only event as a guest. After attending one members-only event, if they wish to attend more, we require them to become a member. back to top
11. Is everything free at the Cosmo Polite events?
It differs per event. At sponsored Cosmo Polite events, members enjoy free entrance, drinks and appetizers. Some events have an ‘all inclusive’ entrance fee, whereas at other gatherings personal consumptions are to be paid for individually. In each invitation the pricing is mentioned. back to top
12. Do I have to attend all events?
No, you may attend events as much or as little as you wish. Kindly make sure your RSVP-status is correct. back to top
13. What is the Cosmo Polite Playgroup?
Cosmo Polite Playgroup offers international parents and their 0-4 year olds the chance to meet each other in a child friendly environment. While the children enjoy their ‘new’ surrounding, parents can socialize freely and exchange information. We host both ‘open’ and ‘closed’ Playgroups. back to top
14. What are ‘open’ and ‘closed’ playgroups?
Open playgroups welcome Cosmo Polite members with any age child(ren) and are held in public spaces. Cosmo Polite always attends to help answer questions and connect people. Attendance is free of charge.
Closed playgroups are attended by a selection of members (4-10 parents), with children of the same age range. The group meets weekly for consistency. Cosmo Polite provides beverages and appetizers for the adults, as well as healthy snacks for the children. A guest-parent is present for extra child care. Meeting is at a private and child-friendly area. The ‘when, where and duration’ of the playgroup depend on the parents’ preferences. Attendance is between E5 and E10,-, depending on the parents’ wishes. back to top
15. How can enroll in the Cosmo Polite Playgroup?
To make sure we the Playgroup meets your needs, we would like to get to know you personally and invite you for an intake conversation (E20,- per family). Then we will find you a closed playgroup that meets your wishes and the opportunity to make use of the Speel-o-theek, a facility where you can rent toys per week. back to top
16. What are the Cosmo Polite Playgroup Guidelines?
Simple guidelines are established to let everyone know what is expected. This helps to maintain a relaxed group that is fun for everyone:
• Children attending the playgroup must be 4 years or younger.
• Young babies are best on their own rug with their own toys.
• Parents converse in English amongst themselves.
• If your child is sick, please do not attend playgroup. Keep your child at home if he/she has had a fever within 24 hours of the meeting time.
• It goes without saying, that if a little one is having a rough moment (hitting, pushing, biting, etc.), kindly remove your child from the main play area for a few minutes.
• Each parent is responsible for the well-being and safety of her own children, no matter who is hosting the group or where the group is meeting.
Cosmo Polite reserves the right to remove any member who we feel are disruptive to the group. back to top
